Are We Called to Support Israel?

🇮🇱 Are We Called to Support Israel?

There’s a lot of discussion today — especially in politics — suggesting that God not only encourages us to support Israel, but actually commands it.

But is that true? 🤔

Before I begin, let me be very clear:
💙 My heart is that all people — including Jewish people — would come to know Jesus.
This is not an attack on anyone.
It’s simply a question:

Does Scripture command Christians to support the modern nation of Israel?

As I see it… the answer is no.

📖 What Does the New Testament Say?

In the New Testament, when God speaks of Israel, the focus shifts to a spiritual Israel, not a political or national one.

Galatians 3:27–29 says:

“There is neither Jew nor Greek… for you are all one in Christ Jesus. And if you belong to Christ, then you are Abraham’s descendants, heirs according to promise.”

In other words:

✔ If you are in Christ
✔ If you belong to Him
✔ If you trust in Him

You are part of the promise.

The dividing wall is gone.
In Christ, we are one. ✝️

So Why the Pressure?

Why do so many insist that Christians — or even entire countries — must support Israel as a biblical obligation?

It is widely known that the majority of Jewish people today reject the deity of Jesus. And Scripture does not soften its language regarding the rejection of Christ.

📖 1 John 2:22:

“Who is the liar but the one who denies that Jesus is the Christ? This is the antichrist…”

📖 1 John 2:18:

“Even now many antichrists have appeared…”

To be clear — these verses are not aimed exclusively at Jewish people. They apply to anyone who denies Jesus.

But that raises an honest question:

Why would there be a divine command to support a nation whose majority rejects the Son? 🤷‍♂️

Even Stronger Words

Titus 1 speaks directly about those “of the circumcision” who were rejecting truth and teaching error.

Titus 1:10-16 “For there are many rebellious people, empty talkers and deceivers, especially those of the circumcision, who must be silenced because they are upsetting whole families, teaching things they should not teach for the sake of dishonest gain. One of them, a prophet of their own, said, “Cretans are always liars, evil beasts, lazy gluttons.” This testimony is true. For this reason reprimand them severely so that they may be sound in the faith, not paying attention to Jewish myths and commandments of men who turn away from the truth. To the pure, all things are pure; but to those who are defiled and unbelieving, nothing is pure, but both their mind and their conscience are defiled. They profess to know God, but by their deeds they deny Him, being detestable and disobedient and worthless for any good deed”.

These are sobering passages.

And yet — the issue is not ethnicity.
It’s faith in Christ.

The Good News 🙌

Here’s the part that gives hope:

Romans 11:25–26 tells us there is currently a partial hardening until “the fullness of the Gentiles has come in” — and then:

“All Israel will be saved.”

That’s incredible news.

God’s redemptive plan is bigger than politics.
Bigger than nations.
Bigger than timelines.

The gospel is for Jew and Gentile alike.
Salvation is in Christ alone. ✝️

Jesus Without Religion

Author: Mike Cynar

Mike Cynar was raised in a church setting where he frequently noticed that many attendees would eventually drift away. The church labeled these individuals as ‘back sliders’ or ‘fake Christians’ just looking for ‘fire insurance’. However, Mike realized the issue was rarely with these individuals but instead with the church’s message itself. The teachings heavily emphasized behavior improvement and one’s flaws, with only a fleeting mention of one’s identity in Christ. It felt as though every sermon was tailored to the church of Corinth, who as we know or committing sins that even unbelievers don’t partake in. This trend was noticeable not just in one denomination, but across Baptist, Catholic, Pentecostal, and many other churches. Upon understanding the true essence of the gospel – that our righteousness comes from Jesus’ actions, not our own – Mike was inspired to liberate believers from lifeless sermons and reconnect them with the genuine teachings of Jesus. He believes that one can nurture a vibrant and growing bond with Jesus, unhindered by rigid religious practices. And thus, “Jesus Without Religion” was born.

It turns out that it is grace that leads to repentance. And if our heart is to get others to walk in the Spirit and live a godly life, then the best approach is not a beat down sermon, but rather to remind other that it is only when we understand our true identity in Christ that we will live it out. Yes, it’s true, if you’re convinced that God thinks you’re a dirty sinner, you will ultimately continue a lifestyle that mirrors that view, but if you truly believe that even on your worst day, you are called holy, sanctified, justified, and will be presented blameless in the end, well, it turns out this is the secret to living out on the outside what has been worked in to the inside.
