Does God Punish Christians Who Divorce For No Reason? What If They Remarry? (Watch)

Today we answer the question, does God punish Christians who divorce without cause, and/or remarry? This idea of being punished comes from 1 Corinthians 7:11-12.

1 Corinthians 7:11-12

11 (but if she does leave, she must remain unmarried, or else be reconciled to her husband), and that the husband should not divorce his wife.

12 But to the rest I say, not the Lord, that if any brother has a wife who is an unbeliever, and she consents to live with him, he must not divorce her.

Before you watch the video, let me be clear.

God’s Heart is Not That We Get Divorced

I Encourage ALL Married Couples to Stay Together, When Possible

Marriage is a picture of our Relationship With Jesus. We SHOULD Hold That in the Highest Regard

Now, with any possible confusion out of the way……

Of course, with few exceptions, it is good biblical teaching that we should not divorce. But let’s take a look at the context of Paul’s letter in 1 Corinthians 7 and see if this is a threat of punishment or an excellent council as to how believers should behave.

Author: Mike Cynar

Mike Cynar was raised in a church setting where he frequently noticed that many attendees would eventually drift away. The church labeled these individuals as ‘back sliders’ or ‘fake Christians’ just looking for ‘fire insurance’. However, Mike realized the issue was rarely with these individuals but instead with the church’s message itself. The teachings heavily emphasized behavior improvement and one’s flaws, with only a fleeting mention of one’s identity in Christ. It felt as though every sermon was tailored to the church of Corinth, who as we know or committing sins that even unbelievers don’t partake in. This trend was noticeable not just in one denomination, but across Baptist, Catholic, Pentecostal, and many other churches. Upon understanding the true essence of the gospel – that our righteousness comes from Jesus’ actions, not our own – Mike was inspired to liberate believers from lifeless sermons and reconnect them with the genuine teachings of Jesus. He believes that one can nurture a vibrant and growing bond with Jesus, unhindered by rigid religious practices. And thus, “Jesus Without Religion” was born.

It turns out that it is grace that leads to repentance. And if our heart is to get others to walk in the Spirit and live a godly life, then the best approach is not a beat down sermon, but rather to remind other that it is only when we understand our true identity in Christ that we will live it out. Yes, it’s true, if you’re convinced that God thinks you’re a dirty sinner, you will ultimately continue a lifestyle that mirrors that view, but if you truly believe that even on your worst day, you are called holy, sanctified, justified, and will be presented blameless in the end, well, it turns out this is the secret to living out on the outside what has been worked in to the inside.

Unfortunately my ex wife turned out to be a real filthy whore that i never knew until she was caught, and then to have the nerve to say to me that we could have an open marriage if you like. WTF. No. Lucky to find a good lawyer and then three weeks later i was divorced. Bottom line is, had God given me the right good woman to marry which i would’ve been all settled down with a family of my own that i still don’t have today.

Just reading your comment above I don’t know why anybody would want to be married to you in the first place. Something tells me God rescued her from YOU
