What’s The Worst Sin You Can Commit?

The worst sin you can commit is not murder. It’s not adultery. It’s not stealing. The biggest sin you can commit is the sin of unbelief in Christ.

Have you ever wondered what the biggest sin is? There are all kinds of preaching against homosexuality, drinking, adultery, and other forms of so-called disobedience. But what if I told you the worst sin you could commit isn’t outward. It’s not adultery. It’s not lying, stealing, or even murder.

Every outward sin you could ever commit is forgivable if you have called on Jesus as Lord and depend on Him alone to take your sins away.

So, what’s the worst sin you can commit?

The worst sin a person can commit is the sin of unbelief.  It’s inward sin.

Yes, Jesus died for our sins. BUT, He died for outward sins. Adultery. Lying. Coveting. etc., etc., etc.

All outward sins are forgivable. BUT, if you die with the inward sin of unbelief you will not inherit the Kingdom (i.e. enter heaven, be saved).

Some teach that suicide is an unforgivable sin, but you won’t find such teaching in the scripture. Again, ALL outward sin is forgivable for those who believe God when He says Jesus is His Son, who died for our sins, and was resurrected to give us new life.

Do You Want to Lead Unbelievers Away From Outward Sin?

I get it. We all want to lead people away from outward sin. That includes believers and unbelievers.

But, for this discussion, what’s the best way to lead unbelievers away from outward sin? Is it fear and condemnation? No.

I’m not saying we shouldn’t point out their sin (lovingly, and gently).

But, what’s the best way to get an unbeliever to avoid sin?

I think Jesus is the best way. What I mean by this is I think leading people to Christ and letting Jesus handle their sinful desires is best.

God swears that He will give believers a new heart and new desires.

He literally puts His Spirit in us, and guides us daily.

Do you trust God to do this? I do.

So, if you want to lead an unbeliever away from sin, then share the gospel. Jesus is the ONLY one that can lead people away from their sin.

But remember this. There is only one sin that leads to death. The sin of unbelief. If your heart is for people’s salvation, then spend more time talking about their inward sin, and less about the outward sin. Tell them about how Jesus died for their outward sin. Don’t let the focus be on telling the stop.

Led them to Jesus. He will change their desires. I LOVE IT! Jesus is that good.

God Bless.

Author: Mike Cynar

Mike Cynar was raised in a church setting where he frequently noticed that many attendees would eventually drift away. The church labeled these individuals as ‘back sliders’ or ‘fake Christians’ just looking for ‘fire insurance’. However, Mike realized the issue was rarely with these individuals but instead with the church’s message itself. The teachings heavily emphasized behavior improvement and one’s flaws, with only a fleeting mention of one’s identity in Christ. It felt as though every sermon was tailored to the church of Corinth, who as we know or committing sins that even unbelievers don’t partake in. This trend was noticeable not just in one denomination, but across Baptist, Catholic, Pentecostal, and many other churches. Upon understanding the true essence of the gospel – that our righteousness comes from Jesus’ actions, not our own – Mike was inspired to liberate believers from lifeless sermons and reconnect them with the genuine teachings of Jesus. He believes that one can nurture a vibrant and growing bond with Jesus, unhindered by rigid religious practices. And thus, “Jesus Without Religion” was born.

It turns out that it is grace that leads to repentance. And if our heart is to get others to walk in the Spirit and live a godly life, then the best approach is not a beat down sermon, but rather to remind other that it is only when we understand our true identity in Christ that we will live it out. Yes, it’s true, if you’re convinced that God thinks you’re a dirty sinner, you will ultimately continue a lifestyle that mirrors that view, but if you truly believe that even on your worst day, you are called holy, sanctified, justified, and will be presented blameless in the end, well, it turns out this is the secret to living out on the outside what has been worked in to the inside.

I committed a terrible sin, too bad to be mentioned here and I’m terrified God won’t forgive me

That’s awful to hear. Of course, I certainly hope you’re turning from it now. And I can without question you that if you have put your faith in Jesus you already have all the forgiveness you’re ever going to need. I don’t think there’s a better reason to turn from sin. Remember, the the lie sounds like it fulfills you, but it never does. Seek His face 🙂

The thief on the cross accepted Jesus on his last day of life, just hours before he died. It’s never too late.
