The Sin That Leads to DEATH – 1 John 5:16 Explained
👉 The only sin that leads to death is unbelief.
Many people assume that outward sins—lying, cheating, stealing, etc. 😔—are what lead to death. And while we should avoid those things, they are not what prevents someone from entering or heralding the Kingdom 👑.
Every human being is born spiritually dead ⚰️. That is our condition before we ever commit a single outward sin.
The problem is not behavior—it is nature. And the only thing that can save us is faith ✝️.
This is exactly what Jesus explained to Nicodemus 📖.
To inherit the Kingdom, one must be born again 🔄.
Everyone is born of the flesh—born of water 💧—but at that birth, we are spiritually dead.
We must be born again—born of the Spirit 🕊️.
When Scripture speaks of salvation, it does not say,
❌ “Stop sinning and then believe.”
That is a serious misunderstanding—and a destructive teaching—of “repent and believe.”
The repentance Scripture speaks of is not outward behavioral reform 🚫.
The real issue is unbelief.
To repent is to turn from unbelief ➡️ and to Christ ✨.
This was the core problem with the religious leaders of Jesus’ day.
They were masters of outward repentance 👔.
They looked clean.
They looked holy.
No one needed to tell them to fix their performance.
What they needed to repent of was something invisible 👀❌:
👉 They were rejecting Christ.
So no—the sin that leads to death has nothing to do with unrepentant outward behavior.
And it certainly has nothing to do with “walking away” from salvation 🚪❌.
That idea is one of the greatest religious scams out there.
Think about what that claim actually requires us to believe 🤔.
Scripture says the believer receives:
❤️ A new heart
🔥 New desires
👑 And that Christ Himself lives within them
The old is gone.
The new has come.
And yet we’re supposed to believe all of that can vanish one day because someone “changed their mind”?
❌ That is not truth.
🙌 Nothing can snatch a believer from His hand.
⏳ Salvation is eternal—and eternal means without end.
📜 God has promised: “I will never leave you nor forsake you.”
💪 Even when we are faithless, He remains faithful.
So be careful not to entertain the lie that a true believer can simply wake up one day and walk away from Christ ⚠️.
Those who claim they did either never believed in the first place or were wolves in sheep’s clothing 🐺.
✨ Christ lives in you.
🔒 Your salvation is secure.
🙏 God bless.

Author: Mike Cynar
Mike Cynar was raised in a church setting where he frequently noticed that many attendees would eventually drift away. The church labeled these individuals as ‘back sliders’ or ‘fake Christians’ just looking for ‘fire insurance’. However, Mike realized the issue was rarely with these individuals but instead with the church’s message itself. The teachings heavily emphasized behavior improvement and one’s flaws, with only a fleeting mention of one’s identity in Christ. It felt as though every sermon was tailored to the church of Corinth, who as we know or committing sins that even unbelievers don’t partake in. This trend was noticeable not just in one denomination, but across Baptist, Catholic, Pentecostal, and many other churches. Upon understanding the true essence of the gospel – that our righteousness comes from Jesus’ actions, not our own – Mike was inspired to liberate believers from lifeless sermons and reconnect them with the genuine teachings of Jesus. He believes that one can nurture a vibrant and growing bond with Jesus, unhindered by rigid religious practices. And thus, “Jesus Without Religion” was born.
It turns out that it is grace that leads to repentance. And if our heart is to get others to walk in the Spirit and live a godly life, then the best approach is not a beat down sermon, but rather to remind other that it is only when we understand our true identity in Christ that we will live it out. Yes, it’s true, if you’re convinced that God thinks you’re a dirty sinner, you will ultimately continue a lifestyle that mirrors that view, but if you truly believe that even on your worst day, you are called holy, sanctified, justified, and will be presented blameless in the end, well, it turns out this is the secret to living out on the outside what has been worked in to the inside.
